First-winter immatures at San Fernando, Trinidad, 12 January 2002 (A), 27 January 2002 (B-C; film damaged by overheating), 24 March 2002 (D-E), and 25 April 2002 (F). Photos © by Floyd Hayes (A-E) and Brett Hayes (F). As many as four different first-winter immatures, including one with a yellow-tipped bill (F), were present at this site during the winter of 2001-2002. Note the apparent moult of tail feathers in photo A, the juvenile rectrices in photos A-C, the unusually fresh, recently moulted feathers in photos D-E (for comments, click here), and the yellow-tipped bill in photo F.
