BARBADOS

			Giant Cowbird (Scaphidura oryzivora)
				Adult female at South Coast, Barbados, 5 March 2001. Photo © by Martin Frost. First record for the Lesser Antilles. This elusive bird was first noted on 9 March 2000 and was seen subsequently only on 5 March 2001, when photographed. Note the red iris, diagnostic for this species, and the relatively slender appearance, suggesting that it is a female. For further details, see: Frost, M. 2000.
